Usually, you can call spam any email you get, which advertises for different websites or products and which you did not requested. It is not usual for someone to get emails from anyone other than his contacts or different websites he agreed to get email notifications from. That's why getting spam can be very annoying. Usually, spam is made and sent by spammers, who don't have exact targets and send these emails randomly. It is also possible that you accessed some kind of a website and you registered and maybe didn't read all the agreement document. That's why you might get your own share of spam and also send some to your contacts without even knowing it. Although you might get spam out of nowhere, it is most possible that you get it from websites you visited. Either if your computer got a virus which 'opened the door' for spam or if your contacts are sending them because of not reading the agreements on certain websites they accessed, the result isn't very nice.
The good news is the fact that you can buy anti-spam software that can help you redirect or simply avoid spam by blocking its access to your IP address and such. Have a spam-free email box!
